1% For The Planet

• A rapidly growing network of companies that give at least 1% of their revenues to environmental causes every year

• We use market forces to drive environmental change by inspiring companies to give

• Founded in 2001 by Founded in 2001 by Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner of Patagonia and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies

• Craig and Yvon realized that their businesses were growing not despite their giving but in part because of it. Also understood that environmental progress is NGO driven

• They wanted other companies to experience the same business success and increase support for environmental groups at the same time
